Side note: lack of synchronization between server state updates and clientside movement prediction (aka where your game think you should be, and where you turn out to be after server send new update) is represented as yellow triangles (small ones may resemble dots) in lagometer's blue line. Speaking of "Rate" - just like in the previous setting, the lowest value (between client-server pair) is in use. It is capped at 40, and most servers use this value, which mean you get updates about state of the in-game world (bullets flying, players moving) 40 times per second, and you set updates about what your character is doing at the same rate. snaps (server equivalent: sv_fps) is "framerate" of server-client communication (aka, how often server and client are sending info about their state changes). Side note: too low rate (or other data transfer issues) can be visible on lagometer as ping sections getting yellow instead of blue (even despite low ping). No server that I know of sets it to more than 25000 (which is overkill anyway, but in days of current high transfer speeds, it doesn't matter for players and most servers, unless capped very low at upload speed), so it is safe to set it that high to always get max out of your connection. It can be limited on both server and player side, and obciously, the lower value is in effect (so if server limits rate to, let's say 5000, then it will communicate with players at up to 5000, unless some player set lower value, for example, 4000 - server will communicate with this player with 4000 rate, and 5000 with others). Rate (server equivalent: sv_maxrate) is max amount of data (in bytes, per second) exchanged betweens server and player. Open Mode gives the player 80 points that they can use as they wish to customize their character providing options for multiple builds, as you are just beginning I would recommend using one of the present builds available for now and then tweaking these to your own preferred playstyle. The saber system in MB2 can be quite in depth compared to other multiplayer games and takes some getting used to. Full Authentic maps tend to have abilities not found in the other game types and can be very interesting to play. However it is important to note that MB2 has multiple gamemodes: Full Authentic (FA)įull Authentic servers use the same maps as Open or Duel gameplay modes but provide preset classes with limited slots to help recapture the movie feel of particular maps. But that's not as fun as simply giving it a go! Now that we've got the basic setup complete you'll want to join a game, I would recommend sorting the list by players and joining one of the busier servers with a decent ping.
